Not enough food - Very bad for a long haul. The crew put 10 sandwiches on a plate for people to grab between “meals” they went in 5 seconds. people were scrambling to be able to grab one. This happened twice (20 in total for maybe 150 passengers). People were starving! Seats are way to small even for me 5 foot 7 and 140 pounds. Entertainment was good. If you ask people to pay to check in your luggage then we travel with smaller luggage we can carry in the plane but then DON’T ask us to check them in for free. It’s ridiculous! it was on time which make it a good flight, if it wasn’t, it would have been a very bad flight.

It was an excellent flight!

Only one improvement needed. The boarding process was chaotic. After pre-boarding was completed, the entire remaining number of passengers (lots of them, big aircraft) were allowed to board without separating into logical groups or by row numbers. Slowed things down with crowded aisles, people trying to get by people trying to stow overhead luggage, getting situated, etc. Never had this happen in recent history on any other airline.

First time traveling with Swiss abroad…. They set the standard so high, I will certainly book them again next time! A+ hospitality across the board…. So impressed with their professionalism and customer service. Highly, highly recommend! Jill Bolger

Die neue Bordverpflegung von Swiss ist wirklich hervorragend: Frische und sehr gute Sandwiches von Sprüngli. Sogar ein Angus Beef Burger wird serviert. Preise sind etwa gleich wie wenn man das Sandwich in einer normalen Bäckerei in Zürich über die Theke kaufen würde.

I know this is Africa but the plane seats could be more comfortable

The flight was comfortable and service was great. The wait on the Lome layover was longer than the airline promised but the crew landed us at Newark on schedule.

Delayed baggages

Negativ: "First of all, my flight had no option to plug my cellphone, there was no TV screen and no WiFi.. they served some loaf of bread cut in half with some spices inside and called it dinner! But the most disappointing thing is the fact is that they LOST BOTH OF MY LUGGAGE BAGS, and the most they could offer me is $50 compensation (my belongings worth thousands of dollars) And even this I would have to claim from my “home country” which is completely unreasonable as my home country isn’t the one lost my luggage, the airlines had! Beyond shocked, disappointed and aggravated, this was my first time flying this airlines and I promise you it’s the last. Won’t recommend to anyone."

It was chaotic, with people struggling to find which line to be in. There was no visible guidance from Ethiopian ground crew. Eventually got in line. One guy checking boarding passes for both business and economy. Very slow with again no crowd control. Children were not given priority. Eventually many people went through business queue while others had been waiting in economy. Ground staff were standing around watching and not helping or communicating. Poor show from Ethiopian!"

Negativ: "The experience from the airport to the plane to Lome was beyond troubling. If ever you are flying internationally from NYC, never fly from Newark New Jersey. Nevertheless, upon boarding the Ethiopian Airline flight to Lome that was supposed to depart at 9:15 pm, the courtesy of the flight attendants was a bit mundane. My mother and I sat on the plane for about an hour after the time of the depart before inquiring why we have no moved and the doors were closed. The flight attendant responded with, "We shall be moving shortly." The air conditioner was barely on. My mother is battling stage 3 Cancer and is an older woman so, I feared for the safety of her health in such a condition. About 30 minutes passed, and we inquired again. This time with a different flight attendant and she said she just did not know what was going on. Other people on the plane began to panic in a sense as well because like my mother and I, they too had a connecting flight to catch. The pilot did not inform the passengers of what was occurring. So, at this point, all passengers on flight ET509 had been sitting on the plane for an hour and a half. By the time we were sitting on the plane for 2 HOURS with the doors closed the pilot finally informed us that they were waiting for some paperwork. He did not apologize or give more information as to why we were sitting on the plane so long, with practically no AC, and weren't informed about when we would be pulling off. About 10 minutes later, the plane began backing up while people were still standing because they were restless with the wait especially when we had a 10-hour flight ahead of us. The pilot then got on the loudspeaker stating that we will be pulling in the air shortly and for the flight attendants to be seated. The pilot did not apologize for the inconvenience or state how long the flight would be or what time we would land in Lome, Togo. Once we were in the air, there were many safety hazards administered by both the crew and pilot. The seat belt safety information was not given, the exit areas in case of emergency were not discussed, what to do in case of an emergency, where certain equipment would be in case of illness or an emergency, and we were still not informed about the cause of the 2 hours and 15-minute delay. My mother and I consistently checked the flight tracker and it did not show the duration of our flight, our location while flying, no flight information was displayed and as hard working paying passengers we should have had all of the information and not have to continuously ask to get a slight answer. Also, I am a vegan and they did not have food for me. But there was a flight attendant who gave me extra fruit which I greatly appreciated. The flight coming back to Newark was decent, going was the major issue. I pray we are accommodated for these great inconveniences. Because to have spent almost $3,000 and receive this type of treatment is both saddening and disturbing to me."

Negativ: "Addis airport is always a mess. Security check takes 30 mins+, gates are changed without announcements and there are no display mentioning flight or destination at the gate. For the flight, food not great and service slow."
Positiv: "When I originally booked this trip it was with one connection and a 16 hour commute time. They added legs to my trip which significantly increased travel time. I tried to cancel my flight because I booked the flight with the necessity of arriving by specific days and times and they insisted on charging me for it so I just forfeited my seat and trip all together. There's nothing good to say about Ethiopian airlines."
Negativ: "They are very unprofessional and unhelpful and I'll never book them again."
Negativ: "Crew was not friendly and seemed to ignore my requests. Seat was not comfortable. Food was okay."

Positiv: "Customer service was great and the restrooms were cleaned regularly unlike some long haul flights where it's not the case."
Positiv: "Excellent friendly service on both legs of journey. CC were easily the highlight. Meals in economy were mucccch better than in business class which is mind boggling. They've got to get this element right. My biz meals looked like it was just dumped on my plate pretty embarrassing. Onboard entertainment could also be improved ...."

7 hour delay poorly handled by airline

Negativ: "Departure was slightly late (passengers still exiting the plane when gate was called)"
Positiv: "Paid for Business , got a minor economy service ."
Negativ: "Almost no advantages for business ticket traveller"
Positiv: "The captain was able to make up much of the lost time spent boarding."
Negativ: "The crew were 20 minutes late getting to the plane. The seats were also uncomfortable. Thankfully, it was only a 50 minute flight."
Positiv: "I spent 5 hours on the phone and they didn’t help me. They couldn’t even help me the book so I just lost 700 dollars when trying to change a flight."
Negativ: "Worst experience in all areas. The phones calls were brutal and no one could help me and then someone could and then they cousltnnagain. No one could find a flight. Took so long for them to look stuff up etc."

Positiv: "Brussels airlines business class seats were the most comfortable I have sat in."
Negativ: "The United airlines business class seats were too crowded with no privacy. You have to climb over your neighbor to to use the rest room."
Negativ: "The flight and its crew did well but I will NEVER use it again if it has to transit in Brussels. We were bussed to the T terminal ( ‘incidentally’ where were all the AFRICAN flights transit) were we had a 5 hour layover, which is fine with me, but the terminal has no restaurant or any decent stores."
Positiv: "Nothing really"
Negativ: "Late boarding, had to check the bag, had to wait forever when landed in the plane"
Negativ: "There was someone that pooped themselves, another that threw up, and the flight attendants were so rude. They kept spraying stuff in the air and even those of us sitting, so much in fact I had an asthma attack and had to use my inhaler. When I told the attendant, she said "theres nothing I can do," and kept spraying the air with this awful spray. The flight harmful to my health, exhausting, and uncomfortable. BEWARE OF THIS AIRLINE! I would have preferred not gone on my trip then fly this airline!"
Negativ: "1) They left our luggage at Brussels, the lost and found desk in Venice that handles Brussels airlines was unmanned. Took 40 minutes to talk to a person. 2) Although promised to bring the luggage on the next day, only brought 2 days after! We had to buy some cloth and still waiting for response from them. 3) We almost missed the connection flight (we had almost hour and a half) because the line for connection flight security was enormous and only 1 person worked in the security. Not only that we were rushed by the crew to RUN (!!!) for the bus, that was ridiculous ! We could fall and hurt ourselves."
Positiv: "Everything worked out great. Shout out to the Washington Dulles airport for the quickest custom check of my life!"
Negativ: "Once in Houston took 30minutes to the luggage to be delivered"
Negativ: "Very disappointing, Lufthansa airline sold my return ticket to another customers with out notifying me, so i’m stuck in here now and i have to find another ticket. And of course the flight is not refundable."
Positiv: "Great airline"
Negativ: "Great distance to walk between terminals for transfer"
Negativ: "Despite the fact that I reserved a window seat, I was assigned a seat in the middle of the center row. They also 'sanitized' the airplane twice after that closed the doors before take off. They walked up and down the aisle with aerosol spray cans. I don't think people should be subject to unknown chemicals in order for the airline to save time on cleaning the cabin before take off."
Positiv: "The plan arrived earlier than it was scheduled,everything wss smooth."

Positiv: "While the flight left late, the service on board was good as was the comfort provided. Staff friendly. I actually was pleasantly surprised overall given a long past experience on the old SABENA."
Negativ: "None, overall a decent transatlantic flight without any problems."
Positiv: "They have the funniest and engaging safety video I have ever seen"
Positiv: "The safety instructions movie was entertaining the first time. The crew was friendly overall."
Negativ: "Both my luggage items were lost on the way there and one on the way back. No free food or drink although the flight price is not that low."
Positiv: "It actually tasted great!"
Negativ: "Movie selection was weak."
Negativ: "It was late both going to Prague and coming back. Then on this flight the stewardess tried to tell me that I could not put my bag on the bin on top of my head - she was reserving it for other passengers! Then she realized that her comment might sound racist (so she apologized), then she told me that I could not put my small bag under the chair. Finally I told her that she is certainly looking for a way to get me off the flight to which she answered "I can certainly find something!!!" Cultural sensitivity is needed with these stewardesses who are racist like I don't understand and I was certainly polite!"
Positiv: "Verspätet, wenig Info. Passagiere bei sehr vollem Flug unzureichend geführt, daher Ineffizient"
Negativ: "Sardine tin bus transfers from hell."
Negativ: "Paid extra to secure aisle seat booking, reconfirmed byne two days before flight, at check-in was reassigned to a middle seat, without explanatiob or apology. Had to be uncomfortably adamant about paid aisle seat reservation for them to put me in one of the several still available."
Negativ: "Rollator wurde nicht wie angekündigt am Flugzeug wieder bereit gestellt. Ansonsten alles prima."
Negativ: "No service - not even a glass of water!"

Negativ: "Flight delayed and waited over an hour at baagage claim .no one to speak to or help. Worker at baggage claim sitting on phone ."
Positiv: "The crew was on point, the comfort was great though the plane was a bit cold they had plenty of blankets. The organization of finally getting onto the plane was great."
Negativ: "The boarding process was confusing and disorganized. Perhaps it's always this way but they began boarding rows 32-47, but never changed the monitor when boarding of additional rows began. I didn't understand the need for extra security prior to arriving at the gate either. I was already in the terminal, but then needed an additional sticker on my passport. Not enough options in the entertainment section."
Negativ: "Complete desinfprmation. No announcements and lack of support stuff. Worst airline experience ever"

Negativ: "There was not enough space for our luggage so we had to carry it for the whole flight, the crew didn't even care and there were extremely rude and not nice when we asked where could we leave our luggage, they said no. The flight was delayed for 90 minutes. TERRIBLE airline"
Positiv: "The on board crew was very helpful."
Negativ: "I used this airline for my round trip travel to Africa, and it was not a pleasant experience, the door was horrible and it didn't help that we were served the same thing throughout. Boarding from Cameroon was a nightmare, very disrespectful agents with a lack of customer service skills and they truelly don't care. Don't see myself using this airline in the future."
