Negativ: "When I checked into our flight in Thailand, I requested three connecting seats because I want to take care of my 74 year old father and 66 year old mother. The guy at the check in counter told me that he had arranged three connecting seats for us. However, when we were boarding, we realized that my 74 years old dad was connected to my mom and I! Lucky there were some empty seats and the flight attendants kindly agreed to let us sit together after my dad spoke to one of them."

Negativ: "After arriving at Guangzhou, we had to take a bus from the plane to the airport. It was more than cramped. Instead of having another bus, they made us all get on the same bus, which had to be more than 100 people. Only a five minute ride, but we also had to wait for all the passengers to board the bus, so it was more like 10-15 minutes of being cramped in the bus. It would also be nice if we could use our phones on China Southern flights. They have a rule that your phone must be off for the duration of the flight, even if in airplane mode. A little annoying when I had planned on working on some accounting for my business during the flight, most of which was logged on my phone app."

On my way there, there were 2 women involved in heated verbal altercation ( although I do not understand Chinese but their tone of voice and body language speak for itself ). The stewardess did not do anything to defuse the situation. It took another passenger to offer to switch seat with one of the woman. Then came a toddler crying all the way to China. The horrible part of the thailand flight was that I was not being inform in San Francisco that I had to pick up my luggage , check in to get my boarding pass and then go through custom again. I know I should not be complaining considering the cheap fare, but I still expected a little more from this airline."

So seat assignments were made at airport, and each time we got seats right next to bathroom with loud flushing sounds all night long. Terrible excuse for an airline."

They don’t give you your connecting boarding pass when you leave the country. You have to go through China’s bullshit customs service three times just to get to your next flight. Negativ: "The flight was delayed due to air traffic control. Subsequently I missed my connecting flight -- Xiamen to Manila that evening and had to spend another night in China. Next flight out of Xiamen was 6pm, Nov 2. Xiamen ground staff was very helpful in booking me the option to fly China Southern to Guangzhou the night of Nov 1, stay for free in a hotel, and then take the 0835 morning China Southern flight from Guangzhou to Manila. It was difficult to identify the right people to speak with and get clear assistance and direction in both Xiamen and Guangzhou."

Negativ: "Check In Agent said my ticket was incorrect? Had to go to about three different desks with very limited English. Had a baggage overage that I was happy to pay for but would have had to go to another desk to pay. Would have missed my flight. Hand carried 8 pieces of dry cleaning through the Airport. Not customer saavy or friendly."
Positiv: "I love the fact that the program that launches the flight were pretty new, but the fact is; everything run like a well oiled machine. From customer service to departure everything went smoothly. Since the flight was brand new not a lot of people knew about they're great deal. I bought a one way ticket to xiamen because I will be working a school teacher. I didn't realized til later on that it's possible for someone with a z visa to receive an extra 23kg check in baggage for free. I contacted the customer service who replied within a day and everything was fixed. Now, I've been travelling a good amount to China and US, so far the food that are good is xiamen airlines. It's healthy, not greasy, and my stomach didn't hurt."
Negativ: "For now ? Nothing. It's my first time riding this airline and I would definitely pick this than China southern or eastern airlines. I have been disappointed with them too many times.... food suck, cramped leg space, and an overabundance of delayed and cancelled flights. Need improvement: it would be nice if the flight attendant don't assume every Asian is Chinese. Over and over the flight attendants would suggest food options, snacks, and drinks in chinese. I understand this won't be the first nor would it be the last that someone would mistaken me as a native Chinese speaker. Overall, the whole experience was amazing!"

The volume on the media device in front of me was not working. The seats were terribly uncomfortable, my butt was hurting after the first hour."

Now they won't give me any money back for that flight or the one I had to buy to get home. It was their fault I was not on the flight and they won't own up to it. I will never fly with them and I will do my best to let others know that they shouldn't either"

Negativ: "My flight from Shanghai to Beijing was delayed more than 4 hours, which let to missing the connecting flight from Beijing to JFK. Then the nightmare started. It was after midnight when we arrived at Beijing airport. The staff offered no help with re-booking and hotels. I had to spend the night sitting on the cold floor, hungry and anxious till the ticket counter reopened in the morning. The morning staff were even worse than the night crew. They were extremely rude, unprofessional, they lied and insulted customers. Very disappointed with Air China. Will file an official complaint."

Security needs to inspect every element of your carryon in spite of the fact you were already screened on your previous flight. They will dump out your entire bag to inspect all contents. Extremely easy to lose important things. They confiscate all spare batteries if they only appear to be high power range regardless of what the actual voltage is."

Constant announcements throughout the flight, even for minor things for example announcing the sale of duty free items"
