Japan Airlines should have done better incorporated with other codeshare airlines (JetBlue) to make sure our reservation doesn’t get mess up and that’s one of the reason why we stayed in Newyork for the whole day to wait for the next flight. Could have been much better experience but it wasn’t and worse. My flight got delayed in Newyork causing us to miss out our flight on the outbound from Narita to Vietnam. On the way back, the agent from JP airlines messed up our reservation and separate our name into 2 different reservations making us running around to figure out how to get the boarding pass for my partner which is ridiculous.
JAL is a very good airlines. However they insist on mostly Japanese language entertainment, with some Hollywood movies. Food is OK. I prefer traditional breakfast like eggs, bread, sausage, omelate etc. But not pasta..which I got during Tokyo Seattle flight. Also their lunch dinner entries were not western, at least they can have that option. They have good Miso soup.
The number of flights available from the west coast US to southeast Asia has been severely reduced to the covid pandemic so flyers do not have all the options as in the past. So I reluctantly flew on JAL despite all the negative reviews [Spoiler: the reviews were correct]. Although I was pleased with the efficiency of the flight, the sincerity of the crew, and the high quality meals, the substandard business class accommodations made the whole flight uncomfortable. The chair was small, cramped, lumpy, and offered little privacy. It by no means compares to business class on China Eastern or Singapore Airlines -- the groups I usually fly. JAL will need to significantly upgrade business class if I consider this flight in the future.
The delay was 6 and half hours… They didn’t provide any comfortable space to stay. We needed to worry about PCR test and everything, so at least they could provide reasonable offers which is that we could use JAL lounge or somewhere we could relax and stay.
Positiv: "The flight never occurred. The first leg of my flight from Ho Chi Minh was cancelled and I was not informed. I discovered this when I went to check in. I called Kayak to resolve this since I had confirmation of the booking and was placed on hold. After 2 HOURS I hung up. At roughly 4:00 am I spoke with someone at Kayak who confirmed the flight was cancelled and that I was not contacted. An offer was made to put me on another flight a day later but that was impossible because of needing another Covid test. I was able to arrange another flight that was more expensive."

Later on, when we getting off the airplane she even helped me to stroll my carry on out to the airplane because I was carry too many stuffs with me and my daughter being so tired of the long flight so I have to comforted my daughter . The stewardess saw that and helping me a hand . I wish every airlines has someone like this crew member . Thank you so much for the awesome service on Japan Airlines."

On balance though, still a top-class airline."

But low and behold, UNI/EVA seems to have figured out cheap tickets that run on schedule and includes all the normal perks like luggage. 1:50am flight is perfect, left Vietnam on time and even arrived in Taipei ahead of schedule! I would definitely fly them again."

Positiv: "all long flight is uncomfortable. The crew can help made a big difference. The airline crew seem to be too busy, ignoring when you try to request something. Ignoring you even they saw your coffee smear because desk is too small and slippery. Curtain was close all the time, as if not welcoming people"

There is no one to ask questions once you exited the security area. The signage is incorrect for airport shuttle to the parking lots. In order to get to the parking lot, one would need to first take a rental car shuttle to the regular terminal and then change to an airport shuttle."

What followed was an hour and half of international phone calls to try to sort this mess out. Ended up with us having to go to an airport an hour away to catch another flight so we don't miss our trip. Terrible terrible experience and stressful."

Positiv: "Online was very strict in not discounting anything. There was room in Business class and I paid full price. Most airlines have a deep discount when searched a few days before the flight. So, that might fill the vacancies in business and make me a faithful passenger. The disability assistance was very good in Bangkok and Taipei. Disability assistance was horrible(wheelchair) assistance in SFO. I had NO assistance for 90 minutes to obtain a wheelchair while .d waiting to board my departure from SFO . The same was true but worse on the return to SFO. I was let off the plane LAST and the wheelchair was not there and I waited. The wheelchair person parked me outside the gate and said NOTHING and walked away. After 15 minutes waiting for his return, I went on my own and nearly passed out waiting in the horrible immigration line. It took 120 minutes from leaving the plane to getting in my car at the airport. Ridiculoius and a violation of Americans with Disabilities ACT."

After finishing the dinner they took forever to clear a napkin so I couldn't find dinner was finished or not. It was midnight so I wanted to sleep as soon as dinner was finished. When boarding they do security check. It's OK. But why don't they use business class gate even there was the one?"

Positiv: "Flight was full ...so felt cramped. Towards back of plane so only 1 toilet. The Veg pie was slightly warm and unappetising , took 1 bite and left rest. Steward saw this and gave me extra peanuts instead. The brekkie was awfulll, the supposed scrambled eggs was congealed into the shape of the holder and again lukewarm the grilled tomatoe looked washed out....unappetiising...so ate the squahed croissant , yoghurt and fruit. What happened to international food standards . Crew was nice...though if wanted water later on had to get yourself.They didn't come around much offering water before Brekkie. No game option eg Sudoku on Entertainment site. My bag come off carousel more scratched than with other Airlines, so poor handling. Disembarked by stairs at Sydney Airport near Cargo plane area and had bus to Airport. Never had that before on an International flight , so took much longer to get into terminal....last thing you want after a long flight."
Negativ: "Flight canceled last minute! Lost my connection back home. Still no news about pay back. Had to book another flight on my own expense."
Positiv: "First experience with Malaysian. Really good. On time both boarding and take off. Food to my liking, perhaps spicy to others. Crew were polite and did their job well. Over all good and service and experience more than expected."
Negativ: "Was looking forward to see and experience new KLIA. Had heard about it, perhaps, 10-15 years back. Not that great, bit crampy. Open seating near gates is current style. Toilets are bad, truly Asian!"
