Yearly my church flys with Aeromexico to Mexico and I've never had a problem but this year I felt very targeted . As I was checking in they told me that my luggage was 2 pounds over the weight they direct us to have it so the employee told us to go and take some items out , we moved from the line and he 'shooed' us away saying "no go all the way back" we did and when we tried to go back to check in another employee cut me off from going in line and told us she didn't care for what I had to say and to return to the back of the line. At this point I was already worked up from their behavior and my mother whom was traveling with me tried to calm me down. As we get to the from of the line the SAME guy who 'shooed' us had a customer who had an over weight luggage , BUT let him take out item right there and then with his luggage on the scale . Well my mother got upset because we didn't know what it consisted of to have that privilege. We get attended by the employee who cut me off and my luggage was still 1 pound over the weight limit and she instructed us to get out and take items out , we expressed to her that it wasn't fair how other people who were flying got the advantage of just doing it there and we asked why . She denied ever doing that and said to go with the employee who did that because she refused to attend us . We asked another employee if we could speak to a supervisor and we were being persisted but she would ignore us and walk away from us . We couldn't believe how badly they were treating us. So we then went on to go with the employee who 'shooed' my mother and I and asked him why did he give special privileges to other people flying and was discriminated us , he literally told us "what discrimination? You guys need to relax. What do you want? Do you want me to attend you or what? I have other people waiting" he checked us in and NEVER saw or spoke to a supervisor . We will def never be flying with them again ."

Almost no information was given about what to expect about our onward travel connections in Vancouver (most people had connections). I was told that not only would AC book me on an alternate flight, but there would be an agent to meet us with information about baggage, hotel stays, etc. There was no such agent. An agent was only available for folks connecting long-haul to Sydney, Australia, but for no other destinations. I tried to call the airline directly to get information, and kept being told "you will have to speak to someone at the airport". No information was given about where my bags where, whether they would be at the airport or about my connecting flight. I was also told that if I chose to stay in a hotel I would need to pay out of pocket and then seek reimbursement. Unwilling to take the risk of not getting reimbursed, I, like many of my fellow travellers, chose to suck it up and sleep on the floor at the airport. They also failed to tell me that I would need a brand new boarding pass, so after waiting 30m to get through security, I then was sent back to wait another 30m to "check in" yet again and get another boarding pass. This was absolutely one of the worst flying experiences I've had recently, and it utterly frustrates me that AC has a near-monopoly on Canadian air travel. I live in Victoria and will likely go back to what I did in the past, which was take sea travel to Seattle and fly from there just to avoid Air Canada."

This isn't a surcharge for more leg room, or to move to business class - it is for the ability to pick seats at all. That means that if I want to sit next to my spouse on a simple direct flight, the cost is $100 round trip ($25 x 4)! For that much money, we should not only be seated together, we should be seated together at a very nice restaurant (which is exactly where we spent the $100 that we refused to spend on seat assignments). Second, my particular seat wasn't clean. Someone had been sick, and it wasn't completely cleaned up. Maybe getting a clean seat is an additional surcharge? The nice stewardess helped me and with some sanitizing hand wipes we were able to get rid of the remnants stuck on my tray and the wall of the aircraft (of course, since I didn't pay for a seat assignment, I ended up in a last row window seat in a plane without middle seats)."
