Positiv: "I had never heard of Qatar Airways before I booked a 24hr flight to and from Sydney, Australia. I only did this on the suggestion from a friend that stated Qatar Airways was "alright". So for the price I thought what the heck! I was extremely pleased with the service from the cabin crew. They are always polite, professional, and well trained compared to my previous favorites Delta and Lufthansa. The seats were comfortable (as comfortable as Economy and 24hours of flying can be), the entertainment and aircraft were state of the art, and the food was outstanding for airline food. If I get the chance in the future I will definitely choose Qatar Airways for long trips."

As in Doha have different seating area for different zones and the ground crew should be trained to be firm to allow only passengers with boarding."

Negativ: "Boarding: by bus at BKK on a Boeing 777, not as expected with emirates, gate was set as “G1A”, we read this as Gate 1A, but needed to run from A1 all the way to G1, got late on the bus. Food: Chicken with peppers average, no good taste Drinks: had to broken cups, one on the top (changed that), one at the bottom with a hole in it. Red wine spilled all over my trousers and pullover. Shit happens, but (a) what about the quality of the goods and (b) how does the crew handle this? Crew/Service: Generally friendly, but the guy who served the red wine had no clue how to handle this: 1. Red wine on cloth is bad to clean 2. After I complained about a possible problem with cleaning and the possibility that the stain would stay, no reaction, only sortiere and the Recommendation from him was to use soda water which was actually not at hand and took him more then 10min to bring it. 3. I requested for the supervisor. She was very friendly and took my email address to write a report on this. I am now waiting for reaction and possible refund for cleaning or more. Another drink was offered but that was all until now. So I am curious about the reaction from Emirates. Overall it seemed like Emirates has a bad standing in BKK: - Bus boarding on B777 - No clear information about gate - Bad quality of material (cups) - For Emirates under average food quality Additional remark: The following connection flight from DXB to DUS, was very good, overall quality as expected from Emirates, food and staff was very good. So the above review from BKK -> DXB might have been an exception."

Negativ: "We didn't fly to Zurich. Instead, we flew from Berlin to Frankfurt to San Francisco to San Diego. Although the alternate airlines did a fine job and we had nice flights thanks to them, we only found out about the change when we arrived at the airport and it caused us multiple inconveniences throughout the day. Our flight from Berlin to Zurich was scheduled to board at 9am, so we left our accommodations at 6:30am so we could arrive at the airport around 7am. It was a rushed, hectic morning and we stayed up late preparing for it the best we could. When we arrived and found out our flight was canceled, we learned our new flight wouldn't board until 11am. So we rushed for no reason and had to spend a considerable amount of extra time at the airport that we could have spent enjoying coffee one last time at a local cafe or something. We planned to fly straight from Zurich to San Diego so we could participate in an interview for our Global entry application (which you can only do when arriving in the US from an international flight). Because we had a brief layover in San Francisco instead, we had no time for this and were unable to do the interview when we arrived in San Diego because it was a domestic flight. The change also caused issues with our luggage. We're not used to checking bags when we fly OR flying internationally with layovers in the US, so we asked the agent at the Swiss desk in Berlin how it would would with both of those aspects in our travel with the itinerary changes. The agent told us our luggage would follow us all the way to San Diego and we didn't have to worry about it. However, we learned once we got to San Diego that our bags were left in San Francisco because apparently we were supposed to pick them up and recheck them, but we had no idea. It was a huge bummer and we wish we would have had more control over our itinerary that day. People book certain flights for certain reasons and need to have a say when their flights need to change."

The overhead compartment doors were left open and once or twice the crew at the back murmured them to sit on their seats and strap themselves. But neither did the crew come up to severely reprimand them nor did the passengers seem to care. IT WAS THE MOST SHOCKING EXPERIENCE in my over 25 years of flying. Terrible service on part of Etihad Crew. 2. We'd just an hour's transit in Abu Dhabi airport and there were numerous passengers still trying to disembark from the Kochi-Abu Dhabi flight, pass through security checks, walk quite a distance to the gate and then get on to the bus to board the aircraft. Strangely there was no Etihad personnel helping us to navigate through this absolute chaos. Many people, young and old, were literally running with their bags. Some of us yelled that we'd a short connection and then one of the ground staff tried to make way for us to navigate through the huge queues waiting for security. This process could've been managed infinitely better. Just imagine if there were elderly passengers or little children? 3. Food was terrible. I'm a vegetarian and usually Asian vegetarian is reasonably good. In this case the rice was poorly cooked (grainy), lacked any variety (anybody who's familiar with Asian food can assure you that there're amazingly tasty and healthy vegetarian dishes that can be prepared - if Etihad needs help they're welcome to contact me). I'm surprised by all this. Try Emirates and one can see the quality of the food. 4. We'd to collect our boarding passes at Belgrade airport. We've a carte de legitimation (CDL) residence card for Switzerland but it seemed obvious that the ground staff at Belgrade have no clue what a Swiss CDL looks like. My wife who's a South African national cannot obviously enter Switzerland without a visa but the CDL is a legitimate document and that should have been it. Further we'd been checked in from Kochi to Zurich (and our bags had been checked through to ZRH). It's obvious that Belgrade staff are poorly trained and it caused unnecessary waiting time (nearly 30 minutes) and senior staff had to be summoned to clarify. I'm terribly disappointed with the overall service of Etihad. I'll never fly through Belgrade for sure. It's horrible and the travel desk were not particularly helpful. In fact I'm considering never to fly Etihad again."
