First, there are FOUR seats but there are only THREE partitions at the bottom, meaning I had to share leg space and purse space with the stranger next to me. It's awkward enough sitting next to someone I don't know and having to worry about accidentally leaning on him when I fall asleep but having to constantly be in contact with his leg was very uncomfortable. I kind of got over it after awhile but I could tell the kid I was having leg time with was super uncomfortable since he would jerk his leg away every time it touched mine. Sorry to be harsh but I don't know how you're getting 9.0+ scores from the other customers. Yeah your flights are cheap but your seat options suck and the movies weren't good enough to make up for it. D+. You get what you pay for I suppose but your tix weren't that much different from the other more comfortable airlines."

Therefore, being the last day I was allowed to stay in Thailand, I had to scramble to find an outbound flight the same day, including paying almost double the cost of the original flight. The Thai check-in agent told me to never transit through mainland China again, because the visa requirement information that is not provided."

Positiv: "I really liked the space in Business and the priority boardings in Asia. Worth every penny. Food was great. A lil slow on serving alcohol though. Very relaxing trip."

Negativ: "The flight was delayed due to air traffic control. Subsequently I missed my connecting flight -- Xiamen to Manila that evening and had to spend another night in China. Next flight out of Xiamen was 6pm, Nov 2. Xiamen ground staff was very helpful in booking me the option to fly China Southern to Guangzhou the night of Nov 1, stay for free in a hotel, and then take the 0835 morning China Southern flight from Guangzhou to Manila. It was difficult to identify the right people to speak with and get clear assistance and direction in both Xiamen and Guangzhou."

Positiv: "Crew and staff are professional and worked well together, fairly efficient"
Negativ: "Upon landing, there was a problem with airport customs and immigration which prevented the passengers from leaving the plane. Crew needs to be more proactive with (1) passengers getting up too early and blocking the aisle out of turn. An elder woman was trying to get her bags and exit her row and passengers from behind were not letting her collect and exit. I stopped the rude people from the back who were getting off out of turn. Instructions need to be issued, let people get off the plane in orderly fashion. and (2) crew did not inform passengers what was happening with immigration and customs holdings things up until I hit the service button a few times. Tell the passengers what is going on rather than allow tempers to heat up"

Positiv: "Hostess"

Positiv: "Crew was excellent"

Positiv: "I love the fact that the program that launches the flight were pretty new, but the fact is; everything run like a well oiled machine. From customer service to departure everything went smoothly. Since the flight was brand new not a lot of people knew about they're great deal. I bought a one way ticket to xiamen because I will be working a school teacher. I didn't realized til later on that it's possible for someone with a z visa to receive an extra 23kg check in baggage for free. I contacted the customer service who replied within a day and everything was fixed. Now, I've been travelling a good amount to China and US, so far the food that are good is xiamen airlines. It's healthy, not greasy, and my stomach didn't hurt."
Negativ: "For now ? Nothing. It's my first time riding this airline and I would definitely pick this than China southern or eastern airlines. I have been disappointed with them too many times.... food suck, cramped leg space, and an overabundance of delayed and cancelled flights. Need improvement: it would be nice if the flight attendant don't assume every Asian is Chinese. Over and over the flight attendants would suggest food options, snacks, and drinks in chinese. I understand this won't be the first nor would it be the last that someone would mistaken me as a native Chinese speaker. Overall, the whole experience was amazing!"

Positiv: "Excellent, friendly service on a terrific plane. More leg room than the average (American) airline for a long flight. Had to call Customer Service. They were as helpful as they could be."
Negativ: "There was no computer check-in even for people with no bags to check. Long wait on line to check-in. Probably could use more staff at airport. TSA wait that night was also very long. Not Xiamen's fault of course."

Negativ: "The fact that I was not able to get on my flight because I didn't have a visa after I called the airline over a week before my flight to ask about it and they told me I didn't need one. They told me I would get a temporary 72 visa upon arrival in Fuzhou but when I went to check in this was not the case. Now they won't give me any money back for that flight or the one I had to buy to get home. It was their fault I was not on the flight and they won't own up to it. I will never fly with them and I will do my best to let others know that they shouldn't either"

Negativ: "I tried to cancel the flight one day prior - but impossible to reach any one at Air China despite phone calls to multiple Air China hotline numbers found on the Internet. Calling the agency Lastminute.com that had sold the ticket was not helpful either - they stated that they had no control over the ticket in the last 24h prior to departure and were unable to provide any assistance and no information how to activate the insurance purchased prior. Very dissatisfying experience. I take over 50 flights a year - worst assistance experience ever."

Positiv: "Boarding was a breeze, flight attendant onboard we attentive, choice of food orders at least two (in business class, can’t speak to first or main cabin passengers.) Flew from LA to Tokyo. Coming back from Hong Kong to LA. Fantastic flights, will use them again."

Negativ: "More modern equipment. Tv screens. Movies. In flight magazines in English."

Positiv: "Everything is good but there are kids make noisy during the sleeping and no one stop them."

Negativ: "Horrible experience of sitting on the tarmac for more than four hours with no air conditioning in New York on a 95 degree day. I thought I would die. There seemed to be no concern among the crew for our extreme discomfort."

Negativ: "We arrived to our destination 12 hours late both going there and coming back due to delayed flights and missed connecting flights. Dealing with airport staff was a nightmare because the lines were long and counters were understaffed."

Negativ: "the food was awful! flight the crew was blatant and not very friendly. they need to learn how to serve customer. i've been traveling with many airlines but Air China is the worst ever!"

Negativ: "Diesen Flug habe ich auf Grund des vorangegangenen verspäteten Fluges versäumt. Leider habe ich weder eine Erklärung noch eine Entschuldigung erhalten, sondern musste mein Gebäck neu einchecken und war alles in Allem über 30 Stunden unterwegs. Bisher ohne Stellungnahme einer Airline ...."

Negativ: "Ich wurde aus unerfindlichen Gründen auf einen früheren Flug umgebucht. Dieser hatte soviel Verspätung das er später als mein ursprünglicher Flug startete. Leider habe ich dadurch meinen Anschlußflug in Peking verpasst und wurde erneut umgebucht und habe dann über einen Umweg nach Zürich mein entgültiges Ziel erreicht."

Negativ: "Der Service war unterstes Niveau. Angefangen vom Boarding, wo man jugendliche Traveller vor Familien mit kleinen Kindern das Fugzeug „stürmen“ ließ. So ging es leider weiter, ständige, sich wiederholende Durchsagen, viel zu warme Heizung, was mit „ Vorschrift bei Nachtflügen“ rechtfertigte."

Despite the fact that there must be at least 5 flights a day between Beijing and Shanghai, they told me it would take about 48 hours to get my bag. By this point I will be gone from Shanghai....baggage service thought it was funny and told me not to transfer in Beijing next time."

Positiv: "An der Abwicklung durch das Bordpersonal gibt es nichts, dass besonders hervorzuheben ist. Das gilt im positiven wie im negativen Sinne; alles Routine. Es fehlt insofern die besondere Note, die einen an die Gesellschaft binden würde."
Negativ: "Das Essen war leider ausgesprochen schlecht, und zwar beide Hauptmahlzeiten. Es schmeckte einfach nicht. Wenn ein Flug in Richtung Deutschland geht, erwarte ich Ansagen auch in der Sprache des Ziellandes. Das hat nichts mit Verständigung zu tun, sondern ist vielmehr eine verbindende Geste"

Positiv: "Das Personal hat seinen Job ordentlich gemacht, nicht weniger, allerdings auch nicht mehr... Das Essen war auffallend gut, zwar einfach, aber guter Geschmack"
Negativ: "Der Flug war spät in DUS los und hat leider nichts aufgeholt; 1, 5 Std. verloren. Die Sitze waren sehr eng und die Maschine war sehr voll. Dementsprechend war es sehr laut...."

Positiv: "I loved all of the entertainment options. The music was relevant, the movies were movies I actually wanted to see, same goes for the TV shows. Also, I really liked that you could play games on there with other passangers."
Negativ: "The food was not very good at all. They didn't have any options besides chicken with rice or beef with noodles. Maybe I just don' t like airplane food and that wouldn't be any fault of Air China."

Positiv: "Boarding, and unboarding is excellent, there are multiple plane doors which speeds up the process."
Negativ: "The media selection was limited, and on one flight, it was broken."

Negativ: "Entertainment screen is fault."

Positiv: "Meals were decent, Staff was VERY attentive, courteous and polite. Ride was very smooth. Didn't hear much from the pilots, which is ok!"
Negativ: "The no-phone, no-internet rule is absurd. I could have really used some internet-for-purchase on a 13 hour flight. Some movies were only in Chinese with no subtitles and the games seemed to require a separate controller with X/Y buttons. Overall blah score entertainment. Announcements were too frequent an intrusive, especially when they're repeating the same thing 2 minutes apart. Also, the weird rules--shades must be up during takeoff, but must be down while we were in the air. Seat must be up during meal time. Learn to chill a little China Air."

Positiv: "Boarding was efficient"
Negativ: "A lot not to like. In consistency following their own rules - i.e. asking some passengers to move from crew seats but allowing others to sit there, phones are not allowed to be used on flight mode but iPads etc are (even though both are capable of emitting radio waves). Food is very bad, even for someone familiar with asian food. Most of the staff cannot speak English properly. Constant announcements throughout the flight, even for minor things for example announcing the sale of duty free items"

Negativ: "I will never fly Air China again in my life. Absolute worst customer service. They lost my bags for 5 days and didn't do anything to try and make amends for it. The staff is extremely rude. No one speaks English except for "hello" and "goodbye". The meals are dog food. The seats are absolutely claustrophobic. Worst decision to try and save money by going through Air China. SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY AND GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE. All four flights with them were consistently terrible. Stay away. It's not worth it....."

Positiv: "Good leg room. (I'm 6'2") Nice and courteous flight attendant's. Good cabin service. Overall Air China was much more orderly and sane than China Eastern. I would use Air China again."
Negativ: "Like all Chinese airlines they want you to keep you phone off the entire flight. oh well."

Negativ: "since this portion of my flight was cancelled by air china they tried to book me on the next day but my husband decided to come meet me in beijing after getting me a hotel and driver to pick me up the night that i was stranded. i told air china not to book me on the flight the following morning that i wasn't going to take it. they never did that and ended up cancelling the entire remaining flights on air china. this was the worst experience with an airline i've ever experienced."

Positiv: "The flight was crazy cheap. The boarding was fast a simple enough, and the food was pretty good for airplane food. Overall I would probably pay this price to fly this airline again, but if I had to pay even 30 or 40 dollars more I would not."
Negativ: "The Crew was crazy bad. They had plenty good enough English they just didn't give a rip if we needed something. My son spilled his yogurt on his lap so I asked for paper to get it cleaned up. The lady just huffed and walked away, I thought to get napkins, but nope, she never came back. This was one of several things that were just lazy or rude on the flight. Also, While I get that this is Air China, so most of the entertainment would be Chinese, the last time I flew Korean Air, and China Southern on international flights they had a pretty good international entertainment selection. Not so on Air China! there were about 4 English choices, and nothing else. Again, I would fly this again at this price (600 for round trip from CGO to DEN) but for even 30-40 dollars more, I would find something else."

Positiv: "Nothing I liked it as there were no vegetarian option and crew was not able to speak in english"

Positiv: "Business class was nice. I only had it for one leg of about 4 legs. Food was good. Service was good. This is only if you're in business."
Negativ: "Economy seats are really small. My shoulders hit the head rest. I'm not that tall, but I'm not short either. I think the seat in front of me was only about 12 inches from my face. The 6 hour ride didn't have individual monitors. Why? No mobile products can be used- not even an iPod. I can understand an hour flight- but 4+ hours? The flight from PEK to SGN was super late, and no one would give an explanation. On the long leg, the movie selection was poor. Mainly Chinese movies. Only a couple new English movies, and some older ones."
