Der Flug war überbucht, so dass wir erst im zweiten Anlauf Plätze bekamen. Der Check-in mit den Automaten in Wien ist eine Zumutung. In Berlin war die Ankunft des Fluges nicht bekannt. The 50 or more Hasidics refused to wear masks, despite the crew’s entreaties. The airline did not have an enforcement officer aboard, and there were no consequences awaiting them at JFK. Laws apply equally to all, and the Hasidism have no right to endanger passengers and crew.

Dienstleistung wurde nicht geliefert wie gebucht und ich musste trotzdem Stornierungskosten übernehmen. Nie wieder.

When boarding, I like to see when passengers are called in groups relating to distant seats in the plane such that they do not step over each other during luggage placement. That is more comfortable than let the crowd enter randomly. 2. I notice people enter the cabin with 2, even 3 pieces of luggage. Even though each one has proper dimensions, they overload the overhead compartments and it is hard for everybody to place his/her belongings in a suitable way. 3. The rows in the airplane seems to have gotten closer ti each other. It is not the airlines fault, except perhaps when choosing whose airplanes to buy...but again, there are only two major contenders in that segment. For overseas flights, it is pretty uncomfy. 4. Lastly, unboarding the plane could also be performed (enforced by the crew) to be in a more civil fashion rather than haveing5 a stampedo - again calling separate grouos of rows in the name of fairness, or simply vacating it row by row from the front to back."

Needed more leg room

Leider hatte die Lufthansa nicht genug Verpflegung an Board. Dies war schon auf dem Hinflug der Fall. Bereits ab Reihe 19 konnten die vegetarischen Speisewünsche nicht mehr bedient werden. Sehr schade bei einem 3,5 Stunden Flug, wenn man das Essen gedanklich eingeplant hat.

Sehr enttäuschend und beängstigend. Andere Airlines (Swiss) sorgen für ein besseres Sicherheitsgefühl."

Positiv: "All the full service airlines are pretty good in the air. But what sets apart Lufthansa is it's ground staff. On the previous occasion I had left behind my waist bag on the seat containing passports, cash and cards. Their lost and found desk retrieved it quickly, absolutely intact. On the last occasion, my mother in law, who is over 85 was taken care of very well at not only Delhi but especially at the Frankfurt airport. I must truly acknowledge young lady Jessica's efforts, in ensuring that everything was handled very caringly by her personally, for an old lady at the Frankfurt airport."

Amsterdam as a hub is a mess, do not use Amsterdam and KLM as a hub to European cities unless you want to miss your flight.

Super Crew / Great Entertainment System

KLM is never consistent with services. Sometimes you get lucky with great comfort and other times you are forced to squeeze in a box for a seat. The food is always subpar and they have become so unfriendly when you need help. But hey, they are always on time and they have good connections.

The service on board was attentive and efficient, the food options I really liked (especially the Chinese dish) but also the little touches like the nuts & gouda cheese which were served in small porcelain bowls. The seat itself was very comfortable when sitting and the structure gives a lot of privacy. However for couples or friends travelling it's a bit cumbersome to have a conversation even when sitting in seats next to each other. Overall my expectations were fulfilled."
Negativ: "This seat is not ideal for sleeping for taller persons (I'm 185cm tall) as the space to put the feet is very narrow and it's uncomfortable when lying on the back (as one cannot put them in the natural resting position). I booked through Kayak, trusting them. But they used one of these cheap online travel agents - Chatdeals. When I missed my flight due to a 3 hour train delay that was out of my influence, Chatdeals refused to rebook without a fee. SAS couldn’t rebook either. So I was stuck and lost the flight. Had to buy a complete new one. Never book through kayak or one of the cheap ones. Always airline direct! Expensive lesson learned… 🙂 Jan

The most comfortable business class seat/bed I have experienced. A lot of room to stow all your stuff. And excellent food and service, to boot!

To document, I took the pictures of the useless sockets... I complained to the lady at the boarding desk (she left before the SAS staff moved in), she did not even care... This experience frustrated me and turned an otherwise pleasant trip into a bitter one. Please install some working sockets in your waiting room! Werbung für einen Stopover in Island bekommt man überall, vor allem innerhalb des Entertainment Programms welches sich nicht einschalten lässt ohne das man einen 5,5 minütigen Werbefilm anschauen muss. teils zieht sich das weiter wenn man einen Film ansehen will. Icelandair hatte uns einen Flug mit 30 Min Umsteigezeit gescheduled - was mich sehr nervös gemacht hat als wir dann Verspätung am Rollfeld hatten und dann noch Bus fahren mussten. Der Anschlussflieger hatte sein Boarding bis kurz vor Abflug geöffnet und wir haben es dann easy geschafft. Man muss auch erwähnen, dass es in Reykjavik mangels Sitzmöglichkeiten einfach ewig lange Schlangen gibt in die man sich einreihen muss. Wenn man auf den günstigen Preis verzichten kann: nie wieder Iceland Air!"

Icelandair June 11 flight 273 and June 12 flight 271 A summary of the Icelandair problems that I had to deal with alone: - 1. Icelandair was apparently unaware of the age and hardship situations of passengers being rebooked. (I am 73 and I was travelling alone with a small suitcase and a backpack but for example, I had to take luggage up and down stairs at the hotel and to wake up at 3:30 a.m. and to have an almost 11 hour stopover between flights.) - 2. No way to contact Icelandair in an emergency - 3. Not enough information given by Icelandair at the time of rebooking. Not told that the original flight had been cancelled. - 4. Sent to the wrong hotel the first time by airport personnel. - 5. Given the wrong boarding passes for the new flights the first time. What happened: - I was originally booked on Icelandair Flight 273 to leave Billund at 2:10 on Monday June 11 to go to Boston. At around 12:40 a.m. on the morning of June 11 I saw a message on my phone saying that my booking was changed to Tuesday June 12 at 6:15 a.m. flight 271 - There was no explanation but other than to call the Icelandair number if there were questions. I called several times. One time I was number 83 in the queue. Another time I was number 62 in the queue. - This did not seem reasonable since I was 73 years old and travelling alone and would have to spend the night in Billund and wake up at 3:30 a.m. - I decided to go to Billund for my original flight and even to go an hour early to change the booking."
Negativ: "- When I got to Billund, I was told at the ticket counter that the flight had not been cancelled but that I had been “excluded”. At the Billund airport no one was able to contact Icelandair for me since Icelandair does not have its own counter in Billund. I was told I had to call the same Icelandair number. I was number 43 in the queue this time and again I waited a few minutes and again saw that it was not a realistic way of reaching Icelandair. - I had no options at all other than to pay for a new flight or take the one I was booked on. The office at Billund offered to pay for a hotel and meals for me so that I could take the flight I’d been rebooked on – the 6:15 a.m. flight on June 12. - I was given boarding passes for flight 271 to Billund and also then for a connecting flight to Boston that involved a 10 hour and 45 minute stopover in Reykjavik. - About three hours after I arrived at the Billund airport I was given a voucher for the Legoland Hotel and vouchers for taxis back and forth to the airport. - When I got to the Legoland Hotel, the clerk told me she did not know why they had sent me there because they did not have any rooms available. - I was told I had to go back to the airport to get a voucher for a different hotel. - At the airport I was then given more taxi vouchers and a hotel voucher for Hotel Refborg, a hotel half as expensive as the Hotel Legoland where I had originally been sent. The main courses at the Refborg were all pre-prepared and rubbery and the desserts were all pre-prepared sugary sweets, though good quality sugary sweets. No fresh fruits or vegetables since meals were heated up all day long. - Getting from the Billund airport to the Refborg hotel had taken four hours because of all the delays and snafus. - To catch my early flight, I had to use the alarm on my phone so I couldn’t turn my phone off. (The Refborg Hotel didn’t do wake-up calls.) That meant that at 2 a.m. I started getting calls from the U.S. from people who thought I was home already and were asking how my trip had gone. I’d been advised to set my alarm for 3:30 a.m. - When I got to the gate in Billund, I was told that the boarding passes and seat assignments I had been given the previous day at the counter in Billund for the two flights were invalid. I was given new boarding passes. - Once the flights started on June 12 everything was fine: I had an aisle seat in an empty row for both flights. And in Reykjavik I was able to arrange to get on a slightly earlier flight to Boston. - All of the airport personnel were courteous and professional, even though in Billund the fact that the airport personnel in Billund could not contact Icelandic to help me is a problem that needs to be fixed. I was told that in my situation I should be able to get on an earlier flight. However, I was supposed to do that myself and there was no way to do that since there was no way to contact Icelandair from the Billund Airport."
Negativ: "My first flight was canceled due to lack of available aircraft. My connecting flight was then 2 1/2 hours late due to a mechanical issue. That made me miss my flight to Denver. The fact that they had a flight scheduled that didn’t have an aircraft available is very poor planning and caused a great deal of issues"

Mir wurde im vollen Flugzeug ein Sitz in der letzten Reihe gegeben, dessen Rucklehne nicht verstellbar war. Zusammengenommen war es die schlechteste Erfahrung eines Fluges in den letzten Jahren. Ich werde definitiv nicht mehr mit Icelandair fliegen."

Negativ: "Staff a bit cold (no pun intended). Aircraft are well maintained but old. Business class is not at all on par with the competition. It's called premium economy on every other airline. Outdoor disembarking and boarding in Iceland... Yes, it's true... Even with open gates at the airport. Contrary to the staff, passport control is in Keflavik... With the one hour layover... Expect to be stressed trying to make your connection. No partner airlines means no credit for using this airline. Overall... Unless I'm going to Iceland, I think I'll forego using this airline in the future. Rather be in another carrier's premium economy than their business class."

As the plane was taking off I got the right for a "shower" 8E or F....water was dripping down into the seat. I made the stewardess aware of it bc I was not sure whether this was the beginning of a downpour or just a consistant drip....She told me she got a couple of drips too. My response to her was wait a minute you are working, I paid 300+ for this seat. She shrugged. When she came around with her cart she offered me two chocolate bars? In reykavitch we sat on the tarmack waiting for passengers delayed from Berlin. They could have delayed boarding a little more since the flight was delayed anyway."

Positiv: "Clean. Moderately comfortable. Entertainment ok."
Negativ: "Crews did not communicate much, they flew past with the water cart and somehow we missed them. When we asked for water they just glared at us. Not very friendly at all."
Positiv: "The bigger more comfortable seats on this flight were so nice. The complimentary beverage and food was nice also."
Negativ: "Boarding from the tarmack and having to carry our bags up many stairs to get on the plane! Not so nice when you are an elderly person."
Positiv: "The on flight movies were nice."
Negativ: "Both flights were overbooked, there was only one person in line for checking bags, which we stood for over an hour in and barely had time to make it to our flight."

Positiv: "Great service and comfort on this flight. Reykjavik airport is not comfortable at the gates--disorganized and nowhere to sit--but that's not Norwegian's fault. Good experience with Norwegian Air!"

Negativ: "Plane take off delayed at Newark making us late for connecting flight to Zurich at Reykjavik. Although we made the connection and the plane was held, it made the transfer very stressful. I believe that the delays were caused by Newark ATC and not the fault of Iceland Air."

Negativ: "The Reykjavik airport was very crowded and it was difficult to maneuver to my connecting flight."

Negativ: "The incoming aircraft was over an hour late arriving, but there was no prior message that the outbound flight would be delayed. The boarding area was too small to accommodate all the waiting passengers comfortably. Most airlines flying from Schiphol arrange for more gate space."
Positiv: "Price and stated arrival times."
Negativ: "Flight from Newark was delayed an hour. Was assured in Newark would make connection. Arriving in Reykjavik all go through customs. We missed flight. Now we are in town for 16 hours and are flying to Sweden with an hour layover then to Geneva. Have bee assured there is plenty of time to make the connection. Let's just say I am skeptical."
