Positiv: "Was able to get home toward Los Angeles with delays and change in plane so did not get proper seating as reserved."
Negativ: "The plane was delayed from Tokyo to Los Angeles due to a pilot staffing issue. The plane stopped in Honolulu at 6:00AM in the morning and no staff was able to assist so they made everyone go through the run-around to have the luggage scanned for agriculture. Then they stated that even though we had pre-check, we did not qualify and the boarding pass was not issued with Honolulu to LAX. Over 5 hours delay and did not know that we could have stayed in Hawaii free room and meals. Terrible and one of the worst vacations ever for returning to the US. The food was not great."

The food was good in my opinion, and the Ethiopian coffee is great. Affordably priced tickets was the selling point for choosing them. They are a young airline and while they go through the motions of being a modern service-oriented airline, but alas for the most part they aren't there yet."
Negativ: "We've flown a few Ethiopian Air flights now and while the flight attendants are nice, they aren't always on top of things and paying attention to the needs of the passengers. Not as helpful or attentive as we're used to. Boarding is chaotic and the overnight transfer at Addis Ababa is a total mess. If you get to leave through the airport in the early morning things are relatively painless, but what a nightmare of pushing and shoving chaos when it's busy. The hotels they put you up in are mediocre at best. Last week we enjoyed a long wait for the bus ride to the hotel, cold food when we arrived, and a nice hard bed to "sleep" in. We probably won't fly Ethiopian Air if we have to overnight in Addis Ababa again. I'm willing to pay up to fly another airline and skip the overnight as it's just not worth the hassle."

For example I was taking beef jerky to my friends in Thailand but the Chinese security has a meat sniffing dog and they confiscated it as well as the girl in front of me More than $100 worth of jerky. They should have given it back at departure gate. I had to buy more in their duty free shop. Also they cancelled my flight without advising me but did get me on Thai airways later that day. The restroom is also poorly stocked — no toilet roll constantly"

An elder woman was trying to get her bags and exit her row and passengers from behind were not letting her collect and exit. I stopped the rude people from the back who were getting off out of turn. Instructions need to be issued, let people get off the plane in orderly fashion. and (2) crew did not inform passengers what was happening with immigration and customs holdings things up until I hit the service button a few times. Tell the passengers what is going on rather than allow tempers to heat up"

Positiv: "International carriers kick butt on US domestic carriers. As a A+ SWA traveler, I know my 787s like the back of my hand. Xiamen had a Business class section (small & unfortunately: untested by me). Economy was as expected but imagine getting a Bao (chicken) & packaged fruit, pastries, pickled cucumbers. Hey, beats a pack of peanuts. You could also get a white or red wine (didn't try them) - all for the price of admission. Take that UA, Delta, & AA! Why can't foreign carriers bring their game to the US routes and really give some competition!"
Negativ: "No entertainment (there was some fold down screens playing some ads) but the volume was so low that nobody paid any attention to it. At least someone can read a sentence in English (and there were pre-recorded anouncements)."

Positiv: "I love the fact that the program that launches the flight were pretty new, but the fact is; everything run like a well oiled machine. From customer service to departure everything went smoothly. Since the flight was brand new not a lot of people knew about they're great deal. I bought a one way ticket to xiamen because I will be working a school teacher. I didn't realized til later on that it's possible for someone with a z visa to receive an extra 23kg check in baggage for free. I contacted the customer service who replied within a day and everything was fixed. Now, I've been travelling a good amount to China and US, so far the food that are good is xiamen airlines. It's healthy, not greasy, and my stomach didn't hurt."
Negativ: "For now ? Nothing. It's my first time riding this airline and I would definitely pick this than China southern or eastern airlines. I have been disappointed with them too many times.... food suck, cramped leg space, and an overabundance of delayed and cancelled flights. Need improvement: it would be nice if the flight attendant don't assume every Asian is Chinese. Over and over the flight attendants would suggest food options, snacks, and drinks in chinese. I understand this won't be the first nor would it be the last that someone would mistaken me as a native Chinese speaker. Overall, the whole experience was amazing!"
