Then when I did travel, it turned out I didn't have the right for a piece luggage (again "small print"). I paid for the extra piece and I was double-charged (same amount withdrawn twice). Now I have opened a complained with Austrian and they haven't responded so far."

Negativ: "I am writing to you because of the poor service that I experienced with your Operations Manager in Vienna, Paola Contestabile. I travel internationally four to five times a year for the past decade and I have never had such awful service as for my Lufthansa Flight 2329 on Jun 14th under confirmation #62RZK3. I was on my return flight to the US with the exact same carry on baggage that I had left the US with a week earlier- a roller carry on and a backpack for my laptop. This is my standard everywhere in the world that I travel and have never had an issue. I bought a painting on my trip and checked it in. With regards to my carry on, Ms. Contestabile was insistent that I could only have one piece for carry on. I told her to get the baggage rules and I would read them to her. I am a trained lawyer and value the meaning of words and rules. I explained that I am allowed one carry on and a personal item. She argued that my backback is not a personal item and that only a "laptop" is a personal item. I again explained that my personal item was my laptop bag, the same way a purse is a personal item for a lady. She finally relented and allowed me to pass through security and passport check. I assumed that this was the end of her confusion. Little did I expect that while sitting by the gate waiting to board the plane, Ms. Contestabile would emerge again and declare in front of all of the passengers that I would not be allowed to board the flight if I did not check my backpack. I told her this is unacceptable, since she had already cleared me. She said she had changed her mind. I found this response to be ridiculous. When I asked to speak with her manager, she refused to allow it, stating "I am the manager today." Ms. Contestabile even went to the pilot of the plane and convinced him that I was a "safety concern" because I wasn't following her ridiculous interpretation of the rules. This is a pure abuse of power and a threat to true safety when a ground crew member can make such a false and baseless accusation. Luckily, a woman passenger overhearing Ms. Contestabile told me that she could not believe the way she was treating me and offered to carry my bag for me. I am requesting a formal investigation into her actions and appropriate disciplinary procedures to ensure Ms. Contestabile is not allowed to threaten another passenger again."

The booking experience was easy, but the important note I want to make was during a large Colorado snowstorm where flights were being cancelled, I was able to proactively re-book my ticket with the help of Airfare.com customer service. From my bank the payment has been done yet to you. We had have double pay for one trip."

I then missed my next flight in Istanbul and had to purchase another ticket. I cannot believe that air passengers are treated in this way!!! I will follow this up with KLM when I go home from my holiday."

Negativ: "When I asked whether the snack was vegan I got the answer "It's a wrap". When I ordered tomato juice I was forgotten and did not get anything. There were no vegan snacks on each of the flight, but I guess that would be too much to wish for ;)"

Negativ: "Pet was left behind at vacation destination as pet's reservation (made and confirmed through KLM) was not found at check in. Waiting for Customer Care to help get pet home and take responsibility for situation and getting no response. Very dissapointed, considering law suit."

Die 747-400 erscheint mir mittlerweile doch sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Ich empfand sie (vermutlich wars die Klimatisierung?!) als deutlich lauter als den A380"

Negativ: "Konnte nicht angetreten werden, da es ein anschlussflug war, den ich nciht erreichen konnte, da der andere flieger e1,5 stunden verspätung hatte....alles sehr ärgerlich"

Negativ: "der Flug hatte extreme Verspätung und dadurch hätte ich den anschlussflug nicht erreicht. der Mann am schalter hat erst umgebucht, damit ich zumidest zu spät aber doch zum wichtigen geschäftlichen Termin kommen nachdem ich ihn mit nachdruck drum gebeten habe. KEIN SERVICE, EINFACH NUR SCHLECHT UND ÄRGERLICH!"

Und da das Weiterflug-Gate direkt in der Nähe war, konnte man den Flieger auch ohne erneute und unnötige Sicherheitskontrolle erreichen. Allerdings gab's auch keine Passkontrolle. Mir sollte es Recht sein."

Negativ: "Einchecken in Birmingham eine Katastrophe. Lange Schlange und Wartezeit von mindestens einer halben Stunde beim Boarding. Es wird schon der Final Call ausgerufen, während die Passagiere alle in der Schlange vor der Abfertigung stehen. Und dann bei strömendem Regen zu Fuss zum Flieger, weil er nicht andoggen kann. Alle nass ins Flugzeug. Aber, das liegt natürlich an der Abfertigung in Birmingham und nicht an KLM."

Positiv: "I flew with multiple international airlines this summer and KLM was by far the best. The crew of KLM were exceptionally attentive, polite, and helpful. The meals were by far the most enjoyable of my airplane travel meals; and I learned that KLM does not charge for it's drinks on international flights, unlike most other international airlines that I traveled with this summer. In a sentence, flying with KLM was a very pleasant experience and I will recommend this airlines to others."
Negativ: "If I were going to list any negatives, I would say that the little travel pillow that was given to the passengers was so thin that it was practically useless, but I brought my own with me, so I was none the less comfortable."

Positiv: "Most of the flight was good, as I've come to expect from KLM/AF/DL. Entertainment choices were great and most of the staff was very friendly. Fresh brewed coffee in the beverage service was a huge plus!"
Negativ: "I usually fly Air France CDG-BOS and love it. My flight AMS-BOS with KLM/Delta was a disappointment from those experiences. The food was not very good and I'm not a huge fan of planes so old that my seat is a flotation device rather than having a real life jacket. Also part of my checked bag was broken off during transport."

Positiv: "Das Flugpersonal war durchaus freundlich, aber irgendwie nicht besonders engagiert. Es wurde ein Minimumprogramm abgespult. Was soll ich mit dem Brot, wenn das essen vorbei ist. Warum fragt man mich nach der Auswahl, wenn es nur 1 Option gibt (Lunch). Gerade von einer asiatischen Airline erwarte ich hier mehr, auch in 'Economy'. Die Sitze waren sehr eng."

Positiv: "Auf dem Langstreckenflug war das Personal sehr freundlich, machte aber einen wenig erfahrenen Eindruck. Die Sitze im Flugzeug waren sehr eng! Die Verpflegung muss man als mäßig bezeichnen, da bieten andere Gesellschaften mehr."

Positiv: "Von einem Zubringerflug erwartet man keine Besonderheiten, die gab es auch nicht. Nichts desto trotz war das Flugpersonal freundlich und hilfsbereit. Es gab eine Verspätung, die aber nicht weiter ins Gewicht fiel"

I asked serval Air France employees for Croatia Air. None new that Air France was the CA carrier. Finally found one who bothered to look it up on her computer and low and behold, AF was the carrier!"

Positiv: "Getting there on time despite delay"
Negativ: "entertainment had very old media and no recent additions. Crew was not very organized"

Meals were not impressive either, but the complimentary wine was good."

Complimentary wine with meal was also quite good. Entertainment system was first rate with plenty of options for TV. movies, music, games, etc..."
Negativ: "Sitting in the middle two seats in the center of the 777 left me stuck for most of the flight. Got up only once. Wife's feet and ankles were swollen by the end of the flight. Not enough legroom to move much during the flight and not enough aisle space to get around with the plane so full. Have made flights twice as long on the 747 and were able to get up and walk."

Hier auch wieder kleine Sauberkeitsmängel..zum Beispiel an der Leselampe..die Toilettenanzahl zu wenig und die zweite wurde auch noch von den Economy Fluggästen benutzt,man bekam auch nicht genügend Getränke(Wasser),zwischendurch wurde nichts weiter angeboten.."

Positiv: "Der Flug dauerte nicht lange,das Checkin klappte gut und die Crew war auch zuvorkommend und nett."
Negativ: "Wir waren über den älteren Zustand der Flugzeuge enttäuscht.Die gesamte Innenausstattung war sehr unmodern und alt,teilweise sogar abgenutzt und schmutzig..für eine staatliche Gesellschaft hätten wir eher Lufthansa Standard erwartet..ausserdem war dieser Flug kein Business sondern Economy mit einem frei gelassenem Sitzplatz.."

Negativ: "We waited at the airport for 5 hours instead of 2 and even before boarding we waited more 1h without explanation and the crew at the airport was not nice"

Negativ: "Although Air France sold me a return ticket from Zurich to Edinburgh via Paris CDG both connections in CDG were very tight and needed me to run between terminals. They say you can make it within the 50 min change over but it is really pushing it. One and a half hours would be better. My incoming flight was delayed by 15 mins and the plane parked off stand and we were bused to the terminal. That all left just 20 mins to get from the bus to the departure gate having to clear passport control and security. Ran to the gate with seconds to spare."

Negativ: "The food was not good"

Positiv: "As usual, great staff, no delay, comfortable seats. We were offered champagne, wine, liquor with our delicious meal and given a choice of 2 entrees. A complimentary pillow, blanket and headphone are given and all that in economy class!"

Negativ: "Airlines should inform parents and their kids that it's NOT OKAY to kick and punch the seats in front of them. I would like to see this as a PSA and via any other communications channel. It's becoming too normal and must be prevented. It's not fair to the rest of us."

Positiv: "The counter assistant was very, very nice."
Negativ: "It is good that the flight was very short. The seats were crammed together and the plane was very small. I felt like I was in a sardine can."

Positiv: "Long slow lines. Insufficient signage for US Global Entry. Too few and slow US Customs. Largest plane ever flown to Florida from Northeast."

Negativ: "That they didn't have staff at the gate even during boarding time & 3 hrs later showed up to tell us flight is cancelled. Lost our bags which never left the origins airport .. the list goes on & on about several rude or unprofessional manner in how they cancelled a flight with zero help before, during or after the fact."

Positiv: "Flight boarded quickly, on-time and quiet flight."

Positiv: "I flew roundtrip to Japan on Air Canada business class. Buying a ticket late, I noticed it was only $500 or so more for business class. We did have to touchdown in Canada coming and going, but short and efficient hops. On the way back, it probably saved time because we were cleared in Canada so arriving back in Philly was like a domestic flight. Great Food and service. The trip to Japan on their new Dreamliner business class featured an amazingly designed pod - super comfortable, lay flat for sleeping, But has good layout and table space if I had wanted to work on laptop. Thumbs up!"

Positiv: "I didn't really like breakfast but I am glad we had it."
Negativ: "While the plane was circling in a holding pattern our luggage was left out in the snow for over an hour. My one bag was wet when I got it and my other bag didn't arrive. And because there were no Air Canada workers at the desk in Philly no one could tell me where my bag was. It was a very stressful end to a long series of flights."

Positiv: "When I finally got to the US Customs agents they were actually quite nice. This has been my experience with US agents in Vancouver and Philadelphia as well. Yesterday they were especially cordial, while at the same time quite professional. Made me proud to be a US citizen."
Negativ: "Don't know what could be done about it, but the security liine was the longest I've ever seen. I've come home from Vancouver many times before, and most times I fly direct to the USA from YVR, where things are much better. Don't think it's Tornoto's fault.....but, yesterday's experience with the security line makes it unlikely that I will come back home this way again."

Negativ: "My flight was cancelled, re-scheduled 8 hours later. No notification on Air Canada was given. They mentioned that "this flight never existed" I had taken a day off of work to be there and I also had a meeting, however, my flight had been cancelled. Also, the costumer service representative mentioned that if I left th airport, they would not let me back in. They would do 2 security checks on me. After all of that! When I asked the check in lady at air Canada they mentioned that flight was not cancelled and not to look at the boards at the airport because they are incorrect! Horrible service. Horrible experience."

Negativ: "The food never has anything for a gluten free eater..always have to bring my own."

Positiv: "The price for a round trip flight Philadelphia to Barcelona was fantastic. Unfortunately, this was a case of you getting what you pay for. Both my husband and I were very unhappy with the entire experience."
Negativ: "Airplanes were very uncomfortable, flight crew was unfriendly (smiles were scarce and you felt you annoyed them if you wanted anything), service took too long (perhaps not enough personnel for number of passengers), plane was extremely warm, food was only fair -- all other international flights I've taken have had much better food and comforts). We had long layover on return flight in Toronto and airport and Air Canada personnel were not very helpful or accommodating. When we asked for a suggestion on where we could go in the airport to kill several hours (eating, drinking, watching TV), were were told by many that the airport is bad and we're given conflicting or poor answers. Intimately the advice given put us having to go thru security and Custims again (even though we already had) and that process was extremely disorganized and time consuming."

Positiv: "The boarding process at Gatwick was seamless! So wonderful"
Negativ: "The plane was cramped and provided absolutely nothing by way of entertainment. We traveled Europe so we packed light - no iPads or computers. There were no TVs on the planes (unless you wanted to pay $10 to borrow an iPad). I refuse when the flight itself was $500! This left us to do nothing for 8.5 hours. Not my idea of fun."

Positiv: "Flight was on time. Flight attendants were pleasent."

Positiv: "The crew was great, the flight was fast, the plane was very comfortable. Other than the time delay, the flight was great."
Negativ: "Flight was again delayed (over 1.5 hours)."

Negativ: "so much confusion at boarding time, my husband is handicapped and we were sent to wrong plane to board, staff told us to make a left when we should have made a right, there were 3 of us and the staff just laughed it off, we were not laughing"

Positiv: "Much better than the Air Canada flight from Europe. There was a good selection of movies and easy to use. For a short flight, they packed food, drink and a movie. Family enjoyed this flight."

Negativ: "I missed the flight"

Positiv: "The price of the flight was excellent and the service totally reliable."
Negativ: "Small aircraft for a fairly long overnight flight. Made it difficult to rest as the flight was full."

Positiv: "I loved the trip back to Philadelphia. Somehow the crew upgraded my trip, and the crews are super nice. Love it!"

Negativ: "My luggage didn't arrive at destination, so this caused a bit of a problem for me as Philadelphia was not my final destination. I had to take a bus the next morning at 7AM to Pittsburgh. My luggage finally was delivered to me within 48 hours, so that was great."

Negativ: "I was put in overbooking, and was concerned about not being able to get on the flight. Everything worked out fine in the end, but still did not appreciate this. Given the risk of not being able to board, I will likely not use this airline in the future."

Positiv: "A nice short flight: there isn't much to say here, but the flight was smooth."
Negativ: "The crewman seemed somewhat pushy. Perhaps a recalcitrant passenger put him in a bad mood."

Positiv: "Highly professional - in great contrast with the disastrous US carriers. Effortless departure and early arrival!"
Negativ: "Employees have the aura of state-owned company bureaucrats. Competent but charmless, unfriendly. Head rest was broken and made creaking noises the entire flight. Food uninspired."

Negativ: "Flight delayed after boarding for 2 1/2 hours. Gate agent was condescending. Gate agent trapped us behind hate when trying to leave delayed flight to catch another leaving on time. They weren't accommodating to providing a refund or better flight. Worst airline experience I've ever had."

Positiv: "the attendants made sure that we were comfy and happy. also, they made people who had connecting flights get out first so that we catch our connecting flight."
Negativ: "the aircraft was delayed an hour and we had literally 30 minutes to get to our connecting flight. We almost missed it even though we sprinting for it."

Negativ: "Air canada just didn't even show up, I had to take a different plane to Japan which made me late for my last flight so I had to stay in a hotel and wait til the morning to catch a new plane. So ya, not impressed."

Negativ: "Ok so snow got the flight cancelled fine that's not anyone's fault. But air Canada people are so terrible at making the while situation any better. There is absolutely no communication with each other. So when I arrived I was given a hotel room. But after waiting over half hour for my shuttle bus I called the hotel to discover that they do not do shuttle buses to the airport and they don't have rooms for air Canada passenger so I never got a room that I was apparently supposed to have. And then I was booked for an earlier flight only to learn that it was full and I need to go on a later flight. On top of that again it's not anyone fault but you do not to give me constant attitude as if I'm bothering you. How about a sorry for the inconvenience sir, how can I help you. Instead of saying a blatant no and arguing with me how about I understand your upset and I won't be able to book you on this flight but I can do this. Do you train peopled to say NO? It was a crappie situation and nobody had any sympathy for us. It could easily have been way better experience if your employees simply smiled and listened to us instead of argue and belittle me."

Negativ: "Leaving late due to an electronics issue started the ball rolling for near disaster upon arrival. Warning - unless you have more than 2 hrs on the ground at Haneda, do not takes connecting flight. You have to go thru immigration, get your checked bags, customs, and beat a 45 minute cut off by the airline in order for them to recheck your bags at your arrival terminal. We missed it, had to load onto the airport shuttle bus, unload at the domestic terminal - all without any instructions given by any anyone! WAY to much stress! Friends followed us one week later. Due to a late arrival in Haneda of over an hour, they were rerouted to a different airport costing a hotel stay, the shipping of their bags, and a bus ride the next morning. In all, it cost them over $450!!!"

Positiv: "German Wings is all right, generally."
Negativ: "The Check-in process, which should be handled through Air Canada because they were the originators of the ticket, was incredibly difficult to complete. We could not easily secure seats, we had no idea how to access boarding passes, and German Wings did no answer their phone (even though Air Canada told us to call them...)."

Positiv: "On December 20th I flew from Vienna to Toronto. It was the first time I flew with AA. I fainted a couple ours into the flight and the cabin crew took care of me and made sure I was okay for the remainder of the flight. We also made it to Toronto half an hour early! Would fly again!"

Negativ: "Airplane was old/outdated. Had mechanical problems, and needed to be changed. New airplane was also old/outdated."

Negativ: "It was an older plane and the business seats are kind of awkward. Can't really have a comfortable conversation with the spouse. TV screen is kind of too far away and lack of subtitles."

Positiv: "After having pad an extra $100 for my seat reservation, I was comfortable in my extra leg room seat in a full flight on a newly configured, even tighter economy class setting. Flying is becoming increasingly like riding a bus but while tightly fitted next to one traveller, one can easily be stuck in a four seater arrangement in the middle. Welcome to the new cargo class. For all customers wishing to continue to enjoy the former economy class three seater arrangement with almost no elbow room are requested to upgrade to the newly named "premium economy class". Soon business class will become the once newly introduced premium economy. On a separate note, I flew on an Austrian Airlines flight, and not Air Canada. On Austrian one doesn't have to pay for food, headsets or a blanket when you're cold and the crew is usually more welcoming, which makes the overall experience a positive one. I would have no hesitation to recommend Austrian Airlines--as long as they don't follow suit with Airlines where old planes are reconfigured to hold up to 100% more passengers cramped in a tight space while charging for everything while you're on board. And if you're waiting to see a welcoming smile, it was on another airline."
